Sander Onderstal (ASE Microeconomics section) and former doctoral candidate Anouar El Haji will present their research into auctions as a marketing instrument during one of the sessions at Bessensap 2018.

What are consumers prepared to pay for new products? How can auction techniques be used to answer this question?

Bessensap 2018 will take place on Friday 15 June from 9:00 to 18:00 in De Rode Hoed (Keizersgracht 102, Amsterdam). The event has been organised by NOW (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) and VWM (Association for Science Journalism and Communication Netherlands ).

During Bessensap about 400 journalists, press officers and researchers will meet to network and exchange knowledge about recent developments in science and science communication.

  • Sander Onderstal is an associate professor of Economics at the University of Amsterdam. His research interests include auctions, industrial organisation, and experimental economics;
  • Anouar El Haji recently obtained his doctorate at the UvA with his dissertation Experimental studies on the psychology of property rights, and founded the company  Veylinx soon after. Veylinx is a company active in the field of consumer research.
